The Cups are arranged in two opposing pyramid shapes. The game can be played with the cups empty or put 2-3" of water in them to keep the balls from bouncing out.

Space the front of the pyramid 10-15' apart and throw from behind the back row

Setup

  • Equipment: You need 12 large plastic buckets or bins and 2 to 4 balls. Add a little water or sand to the bottom of the buckets so they stay stable on the grass. You can also put a small washcloth inside each bucket to keep the balls from bouncing back out.

  • Formation: Arrange six buckets in a triangle on each side of your yard (one in front, two in the middle, three in the back).

  • Distance: Place the two pyramids about 15 to 30 feet apart, depending on the skill level of the players. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Gameplay

  • First Turn: Flip a coin or use a shot-off to see who goes first.

  • Throwing: Players take turns tossing or bouncing the balls toward the opposing buckets from behind an imaginary line near their own back row. Each team gets a set number of shots per turn (usually one shot per player).

  • Removal: When a ball lands and stays inside an opponent's bucket, remove that bucket from the game. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Winning the Game

  • The first team to successfully land a ball in all of the opposing team's buckets wins the game. [1, 2]
